  报告摘要:

The last five years have seen unprecedented advances in our understanding of the genetics of psychiatric disorders, mostly as a result of incredible international collaboration.

Given the complexity of psychiatry disorders, perhaps it is not surprisingly that the empirical data is revealing complex genetic heterogeneity and a genetic architecture of hundreds of genetic variants of small effect. What are the implications of these results? How do we use them? What implications do the current results have for imaging studies in psychiatry?

  报告人简介:

Naomi Wray is a statistical geneticist and an Australian National Health and Medical Research Council Principal Research Fellow. She is Professor at the Queensland Brain Institute of the University of Queensland where she is co-director of the Centre for Neurogenetics and Statistical Genomics. Her early training was in quantitative genetics with application in livestock, which provides a strong theoretical foundation for her research today. She is involved in a number of international collaborations of genome-wide association studies (GWAS) for psychiatric disorders, including the International Schizophrenia Consortium, the MDD2000+ consortium, the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium (PGC) for major depressive disorder, schizophrenia, ADHD and the Cross Disorder Group. Her research also focuses on motor neurone disease and genetic risk prediction.
